Take it away Kara....

Hello friends of The Inspired Collection! I'm so excited to be blog swapping with Kelli today.

My name is Kara and I blog over over at Happy Go Lucky.  I'm a 6th grade reading teacher, Navy wife and mother to a very active three year old.  I started my blog last year because I love being crafty and creative.
Most projects that I share are easy and inexpensive!!  After all, aren't those the best kind?
Here's a sneak peak at what you'll find on Happy Go Lucky:

A tiered plate stand made from a candle stick and ceramic plates.

Last year we made personalized subway art ornaments

and this year we made Santa handprint ornaments.

Over the summer I made my mom and me magnetic bookmarks for our family trip to the beach. Can you tell I love making personalized things?!!

I even have free printables for you! You'll also find fun jewelry tutorials, recipes, and organization tips.  Basically, just a mixture of everything. So come over and take a look around.  I love making new blog friends!
Happy Go Lucky
Thanks Kelli for having me today!!  You rock!!

Isn't she great?! Thanks so much for swapping places with me today Kara! I know my readers had a blast getting to know you! Be sure to leave Kara some bloggie love!
Thanks for reading! :)

Christmas Chairs

I hope everyone had a fabulous Thanksgiving and enjoyed their weekend! The hubs and I were very productive this weekend, we got the house all decked out for Christmas (pictures coming soon), and we bought my dream car, a pearl white Ford Edge! I am in LOVE with it and so excited. So I spent most of my weekend driving around in my new car! Luckily I completed this project before the big purchase! I decided to dress up my chairs around the dining table for Christmas! We are having a Tacky sweater party in a couple of weeks and I know this table will be home to most of the delicious treats so I wanted the chairs to be cute and festive!
Here's what I used and it only cost me $5 bucks!!
  • 2 bags of pine cones (from Michaels, could be free if you have some in your yard)
  • Red Velvet Ribbon (already had a huge roll left over)
  • Glue sticks

My mom and I started by cutting the ribbon we used three different length ribbon for each chair. We couldn't decide on a knot we liked, so I decided that we should knot it and then make a bow and glue it onto the knot. So I started by making the 4 bows.

Then we picked out the best looking pine cones and hot glued the ribbon onto or into the top of the pine cone.

Here is all the bows and the ribbon with pine cones on glued to the end of it.

We tied the three ribbons in a knot, looping around the chair and we hot glued the bow onto the knot, to create this look:

Here's a view of our table right now. Aren't the pine cone hangings adorable! I LOVE them! We took the leftover pine cones and put them in my cake stand and added some holly berries to it. I hung the beautiful crystal snowflake from our chandelier. This project was so simple, but it definitely takes two to complete, luckily I had my mom here to help me. This was definitely not a task the hubs would could have accomplished.

Thanksgiving Inspiration

Can you believe Thanksgiving is just 4 days away?! Amazing how fast time goes by! I hope everyone stocked up on their groceries this weekend, to beat the last minute recipe shoppers! I am hosting Thanksgiving this year, although it will be much smaller than ones I have hosted in the past..It will just be me, the hubs, my brother and my mom. I am excited to have a low key Thanksgiving and just kick back by the fire with a glass of wine, a good movie, and some yummy food, lots of yummy food! We have to get our energy for black Friday! I wanted to share with you some of my Thanksgiving inspiration, that I have stumbled upon thanks to pinterest! Check out my board here and feel free to check out all my boards and become a new follower!

I have an obsession with candles! Here are some awesome Thanksgiving candle ideas, that would be really easy to put together!

A new twist on place card holders! I love all of these, they would definitely add a little something to any Thanksgiving table.

Wouldn't something like this make an awesome favor to give to your guests! Send them home with a little leftover and a book or just a few recipe cards for some leftover recipes!

A fun Thanksgiving game. Everybody right down what they are grateful for and place it in a jar. Read them aloud and try to guess whose is who.
Love this mantle!

Some beautiful table settings! I will be using sunflowers as my centerpiece!

I spotted this cute Thanksgiving outfit! This would be great to go to a big Thanksgiving get together, I think I will be in sweats this year though! I will keep this in mind for next year though!

What are you looking the most forward to this Thanksgiving?! I hope that you found some of these pictures just as inspiring as I did. I hope everyone has an amazing day there is so much all of us should be thankful for!

Painted Craft Room and Sneak Peek

Last weekend the hubs and I successfully painted my new craft room, and I was hoping to be able to do the big reveal this week, but I am literally waiting for us to hang up one more item before I show off the entire room! Anyways, I wanted to share with you some pictures of the painting process and give you a little sneak peek of the room! I was rather proud of the hubs and I, we worked as a team and did an awesome job painting the room. Who are we?! I guess we are no longer "THAT" couple from renovation realities..ha...well at least we were able to avoid that title for this project! Maybe because the hubs worked so hard and put in so much effort! Special shout out to you hubby, if your reading! Love you! Anyways you remember the before picture right? If not here is how it was before.

We chose Valspar Oatlands Subtle Taupe as our color
Now for the fun part...taping and painting....

The room is all painted and pretty much put together....Big Reveal is coming soon but for now here is a sneak peek!

Oh on another note, last night kicked off our first Thanksgiving meal of the season! Coming from a divorced family and now adding my husbands family to mine, means lots of Thanksgiving meals! Last night we had Thanksgiving dinner at my dads and step moms. It was pretty delicious, forgot how awesome green bean casserole, stuffing, sweet potato casserole, and turkey are! My step mom even had a surprise gift for me that she thought would come in hand for my tacky sweater party! They were so cute, that I have to share with all of you!

Aren't these darling?! Super cute Christmas Apron and these adorable hand towels, with Christmas owls!!! Everyone knows how much I love owls, just check out my collection. Anyways, special Thanks and Shout out to her, these rock!
