Setting Up Our Tacky Sweater Party

This year the hubs and I have decided to throw a Tacky Sweater Party....well I decided and begged the hubs until he agreed. I can not wait for it to be party time! It is going to be December 10th so I have to get cracking on gathering and making all of my party essentials! I made invitations last week and sent them out. I considered ordering them, but I found a set of 50 blank invites with envelopes at Michaels for $5.99 so I figured why not just make them and save myself a billion dollars! Here's how the invites turned out...

Not the best, but I'd rather save money on the invites and put it towards the party! Everybody just better show up in their ugliest, tackiest Christmas sweater so that they can be entered/voted on to win the prize for best dressed! I have yet to acquire my tacky sweater or the hubs, but I did get our precious pup Zoe a really awesome one, she may end up winning best dressed! I did pick up a hideous tie that even plays Christmas carols...yes, a tie that plays music...that will be for the hubs! Check out my board of some awesome Tacky Sweaters and party ideas, here.

I'll keep you posted on all of the latest party ideas and decor that we will be making the coming weeks! If you have any fun ideas for us, please let us know! Thanks for reading! :)

Hashbrown Casserole

Well, as you have read the hubs and I have been working on my craft cave! Well, we finally got it all painted on Saturday and really the hubs did so much! He was just awesome, and I can't wait to share the finished product! Anyways after a morning and early afternoon of painting, the hubs was over it...and secretly so I was, so it was time to have a little fun. We decided to have a group of friends over for what else, but football and grilling. So, because the hubs rocked so hard at painting (oh and did I mention he made me french toast that morning too!) I gave him permission to take apart my beloved hutch, and to rearrange our living to set up a command center....
ridiculous..I know, but he will forever love me for it!

Anyways, not only did we have a command center but we also grilled out. We made ribs, wings, hash brown casserole, and baked beans. I wanted to share my version of hash brown casserole (I know there are so many out there) with you because it also makes a great side for that Thanksgiving feast!

Ingredients:
  • 1 bag of shredded hash browns
  • 1 can of cream of mushroom or cream of chicken
  • 1 onion
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 2 cups of cheese

Directions:
Preheat oven to 375. Dice the onion and mix with the hash browns, can of cream of mushroom (or chicken), cup of sour cream, 3/4 cup cheese, salt and pepper. After all ingredients are mixed and the oven is preheated. Top the casserole with the remaining cheese. Cover with tin foil and bake for 45 minutes. After 45 minutes remove the foil and bake for an additional 20 minutes.

It is always a crowd pleaser and is very simple to make. Perfect side for Thanksgiving and any leftovers are great with breakfast the next day! If you make my version, let me know how it turns out! Thanks for reading! :)

Spicy Sausage Breakfast Casserole

It must be casserole week at The Inspired Collection, but I had to share this awesome recipe for the upcoming holidays. It is very little ingredients but easily feeds 6 to 8 people or more depending on serving size. Last year for New Years we rented a cabin with 2 other couples, and my friend H, who is an amazing chef, made this for us New Years Day. Just when we needed, a little not so healthy food to recover from a night of celebrating New Years Eve.

I make this when family comes in town and usually serve it with a fruit salad. I wanted to make it this past weekend, to share with all my readers, just in case they needed a quick and easy breakfast to feed many around this rapidly approaching holiday season.

Ingredients:
  • 2 can of crescent rolls (reduced fat optional)
  • 1 lb sausage (I like to use hot sausage)
  • 1 8 oz package of cream cheese (I buy reduced fat, well just bc why not cut some bad if you can)
Directions:

Preheat oven and brown the sausage. While cooking the sausage open 1 can of crescent rolls and lay flat in the pan. Close all the seams.

Once the sausage is cooked, in a mixing bowl, combine sausage and the cream cheese. Mix together

After you have mixed the sausage and cream cheese, spread it evenly on the pan over the crescent rolls. Once the mix has been evenly spread, open the 2nd can of crescent rolls and lay on top, close all seams.

Put in oven and bake according to the crescent roll package. Let it bake (usually around 15 minutes) and then it is ready to serve!

Now, it is ready for serving! Really simple, and a great way to feed a house full of people without breaking the bank or spending too much time in the kitchen! If you end up making it this holiday season, let me know how it goes! Fingers crossed that I will get to share my new craft room tomorrow, the hubs and I have plans to hang some shelf's tonight! Thanks for reading! :)
